Our promises to you.
These are the promises you can hold us to. Each one is built into how the Ownsay Hub works.
Our promises
On your side
We work alongside the NHS, councils and other services, but we are independent of them. We answer to the people we support.
Nothing is shared without your say-so
Every share is checked against what you agreed. The only exception is if someone’s life or safety is at serious risk, and then a named safeguarding lead must record why.
Your data is never sold
Not to anyone, not ever. No adverts, no tracking pixels, no marketing messages.
One trusted number
Every message goes through Ownsay. Our peers and mentors never use their personal phones, and they never see your number unless their role needs it.
Someone outside your circle
For peer support we match you with someone outside your own community by default, and check privately that you don’t already know each other.
Change your mind at any time
Change your peer, take back a share or withdraw a consent whenever you like. You never have to give a reason.
AI helps with paperwork, never with you
It translates and drafts wording you approve. It never listens to conversations, scores risk, gives advice or learns from your data.
Your records are stored in the UK
Some suppliers process data abroad, under UK data protection safeguards. We tell you who they are.
Clear about urgent help
We reply in working hours and we are not a crisis service. Urgent help is listed on every page and in every menu.
Who sees what.
Every person sees only what their role needs. The database enforces this for every record, and each time someone opens restricted information, it is logged with a reason.
- You
- Everything about you: your profile, consents, plan and session notes.
- Your peer
- What they need to support you, and your messages with them.
- Coordinator and supervisor
- When messages were sent, never what they say, unless they record a reason such as cover or a safeguarding worry.
- Safeguarding lead
- Concerns about someone’s safety, handled under our safeguarding policy.
- Your GP or care team
- Only what you choose to share with them, by a link you can take back.
- Funders and trusts
- Anonymous totals. Never names, never anything that could identify you.
What our AI does, and what it never does.
Keeping AI out of diagnosis and risk scoring protects your trust. It also keeps the platform outside medical device rules.
What AI does
- Translates messages, with a clear label
- Turns voice notes into text, if you ask
- Turns your words into plan wording you approve line by line
- Answers questions only from our checked library
- Suggests matches for a coordinator to decide
What AI never does
- Listens to or records your conversations
- Gives counselling, clinical or crisis advice
- Scores your risk or judges you
- Makes final decisions about you
- Learns from your data
When we would share without your consent.
We share information without your consent only where there is a risk to someone’s life, of serious harm, or to a child’s safety. Even then, a named safeguarding lead must make the decision and record the reason. We explain these limits before you join.
If you want to know what we hold about you, ask for a copy. You can also ask us to correct it or delete it. We reply within one month. Read our privacy notice for the full detail.
